Turn right outside of the pub and at right hand bend go straight ahead into lane; continue ahead passing farm buildings on your right. Surfaced lane soon becomes a green lane, stay on this for approx 1.9km, ignoring all side turns, until reaching a cross track. Turn left at yellow marker post and ahead for 300m and bear right (3m before marker post that points down other side of hedge) on wide grass track with hedge on the left, at end of hedge turn left along track towards trees and ahead. At corner of field turn right and ahead with hedge on left to corner of field, go through gap in trees to road and turn left. Follow road until it bears left, here turn right onto public bridleway and go ahead on concrete track, passing derelict building on your right.

Q1- What is the name of the estate on the sign on the gate opposite the derelict building?

At yellow post continue ahead on public bridleway with trees and hedge on left, continue on bridleway as it bears left keeping along the line of electricity poles, passing yellow marker post. At end of field go straight ahead along lane with trees and hedges on both sides, continue along track as it bears slightly right and then ahead with hedge on left going towards farm buildings, stay on the track until reaching farm track. Turn left and follow farm track, at yellow post go into wood and continue ahead on concrete road, passing new building on your left. Follow concrete road to end and go through gap and turn right, follow track to fork at end of wood, take left hand fork and continue in the same direction heading towards wood.

Continue past barrier and ahead with wood on right to corner of field, continue round field towards second way marker post. At concrete road turn left and after 10m turn right through wooden gate, continue through field with fence and woods on the right to next gate. Turn right and continue ahead on track passing way marker post in corner. Continue ahead with hedge and wood on the right going downhill, Melchbourne Hall away to your left. Near the bottom of hill go through gap in hedge and turn left, cross concrete bridge and go uphill to way marker post and turn left onto concrete road to farm buildings on you right.

At end of farm buildings turn right and head for waymarker post on fence, go ahead with wire fence on left towards gate under trees. Through gate and straight ahead across field to gate and finger post to road, turn left and follow road for approx 100m then turn right onto public bridleway. After about 15m turn right along a small narrow path which soon widens into a grass track.

Q 2 - Where track widens what is the number on the first electricity pole?

Follow grass track to road and turn left to finger post on opposite side of road, go alongside of buildings and through kissing gate and turn right. Follow track round to the left and pass copse on your right, at end of copse continue on path to go under electricity line and uphill. Follow path round to the left to waymarker post, turn right and go uphill to farm buildings and pass to the right of them. Pass waymarker and go through field to next waymarker, here turn left along edge of field heading towards gap in trees. Go through gap and turn right going down field following electricity overhead line towards farm, passing to the right of a large mound.

At concrete road turn left and follow through farm, at fork bear right and at end of small trees turn right and go down grass track. Follow track round to the left and pass pond, continue with hedge on right. At yellow waymarker in gap in hedge turn left and then almost immediately right onto a wide grass track. Follow track to yellow waymarker post, turn right, cross plank bridge and through kissing gate. Go diagonally right across field to far right corner, go through gate adjacent to wooden fence to road, turn right and follow road back to pub.
